WHAT AND HOW TO DONATE?

CURRENT NEEDS: Shoe Dept. Store gift cards for new school shoes, $10 Walmart Gift Cards for birthdays, Dove personal care products, over-the-counter meds (Ibuprofen, Pamprin, Tums, Zyrtec, Pepto Bismol, Benadryl, Lice treatments, etc.), 65 gallon trash bags, Tide/Gain pods, and paper products (toilet tissue & paper towels)

Please keep in mind that we can only accept items that are age appropriate for our residents, we currently serve teenage boys and girls, ranging 13-18 years of age.

The Lancaster Children’s Home ensures that each child has the daily necessities of life, such as food, clothing, and proper shelter.

We cannot express how important monetary and in-kind donations are to our organization.  Equally important are the donations of time and talent from members of the community.  Whether it is through social or spiritual activities, introducing and sharing the love of your favorite hobby or expressing your talents through music and the art, ALL gifts are an essential part of our program. Please follow us with this link to our Facebook page and find us on Instagram at lancaster_childrens_home_inc to stay informed of current needs, donations received and activities provided for the children.

If you are planning to donate items and are unsure of which items are needed and how much is needed, a good “rule of thumb” regarding “what” and “how many” items are needed is:

We use the same items you use your own home (cleaning products, food items, personal hygiene items, school supplies, clothing, etc.), but we need about 20 times more, as we average housing 28 children daily, but serve an average of 92 different children over the course of a year.

The amount of supplies needed for the Girls Home and the Boys Home is based on the number of children we serve. For our current number of residents, special emergency needs, specific clothing sizes, etc., please call 803-286-5277. Check our social media, as we are frequently posting our immediate needs on our Facebook page.

We often welcome children into the home with nothing but the clothes they are wearing and at times, without shoes. Gift Cards are very helpful in providing immediate needs for these children upon arrival, such as a new pair of shoes.

If you are interested in making Christmas special for the boys and girls residing at LCH during Christmas, please refer to the Christmas Donations tab and contact April Joplin with questions or to get on our list.

The NEEDS LIST form below is a generic list of items that are used at LCH. We encourage individuals to contact us for specific needs prior to collecting items on the attached list due to our limited storage space and time frames for item expirations.
