Our Story
In 1961, the Lancaster Children’s Home, Inc. (LCH) was established as a 501 (c)(3) private-nonprofit agency to serve children from Lancaster County. LCH served a total of 22 children its first year of incorporation and has grown to serve an average annual total of 101 children. In 1992, LCH became licensed with the state of South Carolina to enable assistance for children from outside of Lancaster County. From the organization’s humble beginnings in a quaint house on Chesterfield Ave to its current 124 acre multi-cottage location on Hwy 903 in Lancaster, LCH is ever-evolving to care for children in need. Successfully meeting the ever-changing needs of the children is attributed to caring, long-tenured staff; our relationship with our supportive community; and always putting the children first and operating by the motto of “Whatever It Takes!”
